Super Lawyers is a rating service of outstanding lawyers founded in 1991 by Thomson Reuters. Recipients are selected annually and state-by-state. The selection process is multi-phased and includes independent research, peer nominations, and peer evaluations. Each candidate is evaluated on 12 indicators of peer recognition and professional achievement. 

Rising Stars is a separate list that recognizes attorneys under 40 who have practiced law for 10 years or less and meet the criteria for Super Lawyers. Only 5% of attorneys are selected to Super Lawyers and 2.5% to Rising Stars.
