Friday, May 1, at 1pm at the New Ulm Public Library/Downstairs Meeting Room Starring Robert Redford, Paul Newman, Robert Shaw and Eileen Brennen, this 1973 period-piece drama was nominated for ten Academy Awards and won seven. It Also featured the songs, “The Entertainer” and “Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head”. Following the murder of a mutual friend, aspiring con man Johnny Hooker (Robert Redford) teams up with old pro Henry Gondorff (Paul Newman) to take revenge on the ruthless crime boss responsible, Doyle Lonnegan (Robert Shaw). Hooker and Gondorff set about implementing an elaborate scheme, one so crafty that Lonnegan won't even know he's been swindled. As their big con unfolds, however, things don't go according to plan, requiring some last-minute improvisation by the undaunted duo. Held in the Meeting Room in the lower level of the New Ulm Public Library, we will present a different movie each Friday afternoon at 1pm. Our movies are free, and everyone is welcome to attend.
