Library Events Movie Matinees are sponsored in partnership with the New Ulm Public Library and hosted by the CAST Senior Center. Made possible by the New Ulm Optimist Club. Friday\, May 1\, at 1pm at the New Ulm Public Library/Downstairs Meeting Room Starring Robert Redford\, Paul Newman\, Robert Shaw and Eileen Brennen\, this 1973 period-piece drama was nominated for ten Academy Awards and won seven. It Also featured the songs\, "The Entertainer" and "Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head". Following the murder of a mutual friend\, aspiring con man Johnny Hooker (Robert Redford) teams up with old pro Henry Gondorff (Paul Newman) to take revenge on the ruthless crime boss responsible\, Doyle Lonnegan (Robert Shaw). Hooker and Gondorff set about implementing an elaborate scheme\, one so crafty that Lonnegan won't even know he's been swindled. As their big con unfolds\, however\, things don't go according to plan\, requiring some last-minute improvisation by the undaunted duo. About our Movie Matinees: The CAST Senior Center is partnering with the New Ulm Public Library to bring you Movie Matinees. Held in the Meeting Room in the lower level of the New Ulm Public Library\, we will present a different movie each Friday afternoon at 1pm. Our movies are free\, and everyone is welcome to attend. No preregistration needed. Made possible by the Optimist Club of New Ulm. You're welcome to bring your own refreshments. Free hearing devices compatible with the sound system are available to use. And you don't have to be a "senior" to attend! See some old favorites and discover some new ones. Join us for a fun afternoon of classic cinema!
