Annual Illuminate Hope Gala - 2023

Our Annual Illuminate Hope Gala is our largest fundraiser. Our 2022 Illuminate Hope Gala welcomed almost 400 attendees, and 28 Business Sponsors, along with incredible support from donations and live auction items. It was a huge success, and we are now busy planning our upcoming Gala for Friday, October 27th, 2023, at the Royal Oak Event Center in New Ulm, MN.

B the Light was founded in 2016 by survivor Amber Melby and is the only non-profit in the South-Central Minnesota area that exclusively serves breast cancer patients and their families. We feature a variety of programs to help survivors on their journey, including ReLight Retreats, Holiday Hope Handbags, Survival Fitness, Hope Getaways, and financial donations to nominated survivors. Based on existing needs and because of our supporters, we continue to grow our current programs and develop new ones.

We are excited to offer two new programs this year Cooking Beyond Cancer and Hope Huddles. 

Cooking Beyond Cancer - "These cooking classes empower cancer patients and survivors by teaching basic culinary skills, dispelling nutrition myths, and breaking down barriers to working with novel ingredients. The shared experience of creating a healthy meal with other survivors serves as a support group that can nourish both the body and the soul."-Dr. Cori Jordan

Hope Huddles provide a simple yet meaningful way for survivors to connect over a meal or a cup of coffee. These are offered twice per month to survivors at any stage in their journey. Check out www.bthelightinfo.org to learn more.

What's next? Unfortunately, there are more and more women being diagnosed with breast cancer every day that need support. As the news of our mission spreads, we have requests to bring our programs into neighboring communities.

While our roots remain in New Ulm, we want to reach even more survivors in our region. Our strategic plan is
to hire an Executive Director and develop our team as we grow so we can meet the needs of
women and their families on a breast cancer journey.
