Direct Support Professional (DSP)
A Direct Support Professional (DSP) provides care to individuals served in our community. The people we serve are vulnerable adults and children in need of support in their daily activities.
The right person for this position would be eager to help in the following areas:
Residential Services:
- Assisting individuals with dressing, grooming, hygiene, and other daily living functions.
- Assisting individuals with bedtime routines, administering medications, physical therapy, etc.
- Supporting and teaching individuals independent living skills i.e.: routines, meal prep, cooking, cleaning, laundry, budgeting, proper hygiene, medications, appointments, shopping, etc.
- Assisting individuals in accessing the community and participating in recreation and leisure activities.
- Assisting to resolve challenging situations as they arise.
Non-Residential Services:
- Support individuals who live in their own apartment, home or a family members home.
- Promote and teach a variety of independent living skills. Examples include financial management i.e.: balancing checkbooks, accessing the community (grocery store, bank, restaurants, laundry mat, fitness center etc.).
- Assisting individuals by promoting self-advocacy.
