What went on at home in Brown County during WWII? Join us as Carla Fjeld, BCHS volunteer, talks about life on the home front. While our men went off to fight, those at home played a crucial role as well. They lived with strict rationing of tires, gas, sugar and much more. Goods like cars, appliances and toys disappeared. They collected paper, tin, and milkweed, all for the war effort. In spite of all this, they remained committed to the principle, “We are all in this together”. Come learn about this resilient period in time on Thursday, May 7 at 1:00 p.m. Program provided by the Brown County Historical Society. Hosted by the CAST Senior Center, CAST Educational Programs were developed to reach a wide audience of senior citizens, providing a variety of interesting subjects via in-person presentations and experiences. Scheduled year-round, we host programs at the CAST Senior Center, but also travel to area libraries, museums, places of interest, and other Senior/Community Centers in our area to introduce Seniors to the many program opportunities that are available. Our programs are open to the public, and there are no membership dues. Unless noted, the programs are provided free and no preregistration is required. Carpooling is available for out-of-town trips.
