"Venice, Italy" CAST Educational Program
Lowell Liedman is back with another wonderful series about his travels! Join us as we explore Venice, Italy in this two-part series. In Part 1, this week, we’ll discuss maps of Venice, see a short video looking at how Venice began, how it was built, describes how Venice got started, and how it became a great and prosperous city on a series of swampy islands. We’ll see scenes of St. Mark’s Square and St. Mark’s Basilica, the Doges Palace, the Rialto Bridge, the Jewish Ghetto in Venice, Lido Beach on Lido Island, the Arsenal and the Museum of Naval History, and, of course, the canals of Venice. Also shown will be images of the Veneto, including Verona, Cortina and the Dolomite Mountains, Bassano del Grappa, Teatro Olimpico and the Vicenza La Rotonda in Vicenza. Mark your calendars for Part 2 of our Venice, Italy series on Thursday, November 13 at 1pm! Hosted by the CAST Senior Center, CAST Educational Programs were developed to reach a wide audience of senior citizens, providing a variety of interesting subjects via in-person presentations and experiences. Scheduled year-round, we host programs at the CAST Senior Center, but also travel to area libraries, museums, places of interest, and other Senior/Community Centers in our area to introduce Seniors to the many program opportunities that are available. Our programs are open to the public and there are no membership dues. Unless noted, the programs are provided free, and no preregistration is required. Carpooling is available for out-of-town trips. Check out our program schedule every month and join us for our next event. We look forward to seeing you!
