Tour of North Star Taxidermy/CAST Educational Program

Trip Details: We will meet in the CAST Senior Center parking lot at 1pm and carpool to Nicollet. This tour is free and open to the public, but pre-registration is required so we know how many will be attending. Register by calling 507-354-3212 (leave a message with your name, phone number, and if you’ll need to carpool). Join is as we tour North Star Taxidermy and learn all about the art of preparing, stuffing, and mounting animals, birds and fish with lifelike effect. Owner Jeff Holmin got started in taxidermy at the age of 15 due to his love of animals and the outdoors. After graduating high school, he went to work for a taxidermy studio full-time and stayed there for 18 years doing a wide range of work from North American to African animals as well as many birds and fish. In 1999, Jeff and his wife, Barb, opened a new studio between Nicollet and St. Peter, MN. In the past, Jeff has competed in many competitions winning first place in both the state and world Taxidermy Championships. North Star Taxidermy believes in taking care of our natural resources and proudly support D.U., Pheasants Forever, NWTF, MWA, Minnesota Deer hunters Assn., Blue Earth Co. Pheasants, Inc, Nicollet Cons. Club, Key city cons. club, Bowbenders Archery, Valley Archers, Swan Lake Wildlife Assn, and many more. Hosted by the CAST Senior Center, CAST Educational Programs were developed to reach a wide audience of senior citizens, providing a variety of interesting subjects via in-person presentations and experiences. Scheduled year-round, we host programs at the CAST Senior Center, but also travel to area libraries, museums, places of interest, and other Senior/Community Centers in our area to introduce Seniors to the many program opportunities that are available. Our programs are open to the public and there are no membership dues. Unless noted, the programs are provided free and no preregistration is required. Carpooling is available for out-of-town trips.
