Stargazing Party with Meteorologist Mike Lynch
New Ulm Public Library, New Ulm Park and Recreation, and Martin Luther College invite you to a Stargazing Party with WCCO Radio Meteorologist Mike Lynch on Friday, August 2 from 9-11 p.m. at the Martin Luther College athletic fields (219 Hollywood Avenue). Come view constellations like The Big Bear, Cygnus the Swan, Pegasus the Winged Horse, and learn the great stories behind them. Lynch will also aim giant telescopes at Jupiter, Saturn, star clusters, galaxies, and other great celestial treasures and use a telescope astronomical camera system to view distant celestial targets on a video screen. Mike Lynch is a meteorologist at WCCO Radio and has been hosting star watch parties and teaching astronomy classes for over 48 years. He also writes a weekly stargazing column for the St. Paul Pioneer Press and is the author of the book, “Stars: A Month by Month Tour of the Constellations,” which will be available for purchase, along with super cool glow-in-the-dark star shirts. Even if it’s the cloudy you’ll learn a lot and have a great time! Call the library at 507-359-8331 for more information on this free public program.
