Shoemaking at the Kiesling House
Pegeen Rozeske, The Shoe Lady, a Historical Re enactor, shoe maker and New Ulm resident will present the Art and Mystery of a Cordwainer. A journeyman shoemaker, Pegeen travels through time as well as across the miles to demonstrate what making footwear entailed when this country was just beginning. Pegeen’s program includes her wearing clothing typical of the Kiesling House era and sharing information about her attire. This presentation complements the regular programming which includes a guided tour, a video presentation and exhibits. Explore the past at The Historic Kiesling House, constructed in 1861, and learn about the Kiesling family that built the house. The family and their house survived the US-Dakota War of 1862. The house is the only wood-framed house from that era remaining in Brown County.
