Phil Nusbaum & Steve Howard Perform at the Grand
It’s a duet that has fun presenting a wide body of music that includes pop as from groups like Credence Clearwater Revival, blues from Robert Johnson, standards taken from jazz, progressive originals and of course traditional bluegrass. Steve and Phil feature both their voices and banjo and guitar, making this the bluegrass-based duet with the greatest stylistic variety around. Plus the two of them enjoy presenting their music in informative and entertaining fashion. It is an acoustic duet with a stylistic breath like no other.
Steve Howard has led the Blue Drifters Quartet for about 20 years. His guitar solos are imaginative, and he is an expert in arranging multiple voices for bluegrass singing. Phil is the radio voice of Bluegrass on Bluegrass Saturday Morning in Minneapolis and the syndicated Bluegrass Review show. A composer of banjo music he enjoys workshopping banjo playing on topics such as pentatonic playing.
