“My Life in Baseball” Author Talk with Jim Kahmann - CAST Educational Program
Raw, insightful, and filled with never-before-told stories, “My Life in Baseball” is a must-read for baseball fans and anyone who’s ever wondered what happens beyond the dugout when the cameras aren’t rolling. Jim Kahmann worked in professional baseball for 20 years, 11 years in the minor leagues and 9 years in the Majors for the Minnesota Twins. Fascinating stories that will leave you wanting more! Jim is a captivating storyteller, who brings the world of behind-the-scenes professional baseball to life. He shares his journey as a young man right out of college, wanting to make it in the Big Leagues. From a young age, Jim knew he did not have the physical skills of a ballplayer, but he had an unabashed love for sports that led him to find another way into the world – as an athletic trainer. Jim got his break in professional baseball the summer after graduating from Minnesota State University, Mankato with a degree in the trailblazing major of athletic training. The presentation includes Jim recounting his entertaining stories, an open Q&A, and a unique behind-the-scenes look at the publishing process with his brother and co-presenter, a master printer who brought Jim’s memoir to life through his 50-year career in letterpress. BIO: Jim Kahmann was born in Missouri and raised in Minnesota, the youngest son of 12 children born to Jack and Della Kahmann, one of 8 boys and 4 girls. Jim moved to Florida during his minor league days where he met his wife, Michelle. They were married in 1992.
