"Holiday Extra" at the CAST Senior Center
The CAST Senior Center and CASTLE Lifelong Learning are presenting a classic, but often overlooked, Holiday movie for you to discover and enjoy. Haven’t seen it? Now is your chance! Hosted by Clay Schuldt of the New Ulm Film Society, we will be screening the movie in its entirety with discussion before and after. This is a free event and all are welcome to attend. No RSVP required. Held in Room 111A at the CAST Senior Center, 600 North German Street in New Ulm. An additional “Holiday Extra” movie screening will be on Monday, December 19. Monday, December 12 at 1pm: The Bishop’s Wife (1947) Bishop Henry Brougham (David Niven), troubled with funding the building of a new cathedral, prays for divine guidance. His plea is seemingly answered by a suave angel named Dudley (Cary Grant), who reveals his identity only to the clergyman. However, Dudley's mission is not to help construct a cathedral, but to spiritually guide Henry and the people around him. The film won the Academy Award for Best Sound (Gordon E. Sawyer), and was nominated for Best Director, Best Film Editing, Best Music, Scoring of a Dramatic or Comedy Picture and Best Picture.
