CAST Movie Matinees: "Monty Python and the Holy Grail"
History is turned on its comic head when, in tenth-century England, King Arthur travels the countryside to find knights who will join him at the Round Table in Camelot. Gathering up the men is a tale in itself but after a bit of a party at Camelot, many decide to leave only to be stopped by God, who sends them on a quest: to find the Holy Grail. After a series of individual adventures, the knights are reunited but must face a wizard named Tim the Enchanter, killer rabbits and lessons in the use of holy hand grenades. Unquestionably one of the funniest movies ever made. From the opening scene to the sudden ending this one won't let you leave the room. Especially the opening scene: "Are you trying to say that coconuts migrate" or when John Cleese trying to be Tarzan, hanging on the rope said: "Can somebody give me a push." An absolute masterpiece. The CAST Senior Center is partnering with the New Ulm Public Library to bring you Movie Matinees for Seniors. Held in the Meeting Room in the lower level of the New Ulm Public Library, we will present a different movie each Friday afternoon at 1pm. These movies are free, and everyone is welcome to attend. No preregistration needed. Made possible by the Optimist Club of New Ulm. For 2024, our monthly movie theme is “Through the Decades”. We will be showing movies from the Top 100 Movies list of their decade, beginning with the 1930s in March and ending with the 2020s in December. See some old favorites and maybe discover some new ones. Join us for a fun afternoon of classic cinema!
