No preregistration needed. Made possible by the Optimist Club of New Ulm. You’re welcome to bring your own refreshments. Free hearing devices compatible with the sound system are available to use. And you don’t have to be a “senior” to attend! See some old favorites and discover some new ones. Join us for a fun afternoon of classic cinema! Movie Overview: The film begins with a flying saucer landing in Washington, D.C. during the Cold War era. The alien, Klaatu, emerges from the spacecraft, accompanied by a powerful robot named Gort. Klaatu comes in peace, intending to deliver an important message to the leaders of Eart regarding the dangers of humanity’s aggressive behavior, particularly in the context of nuclear weapons. However, Klaatu is shot by a nervous soldier as he attempts to communicate, prompting Gort to retaliate by disarming the military forces surrounding them. Klaatu is taken to a hospital, where he quickly heals from his injuries using advanced technology. After escaping, he disguises himself as a human and begins to learn about Earth and its inhabitants, particularly befriending a widow named Helen Benson and her son, Bobby. Can the three save the Earth?
