CAST/Library Movie Matinee "The Best Years of Our Lives"
The film follows three WWII veterans, Fred, Al, and Homer, as they return to their small-town home of Boone City after the war. Each man faces unique challenges in adjusting to civilian life. As the men navigate their relationships and personal struggles, they form a bind and support each other through their reintegration into societal change and the personal costs pf war. Winner of six Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor, Best Film Editing, Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Original Score. It was also one of the first films selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry for being “culturally, historically, or aesthetically” significant. About our Movie Matinees: The CAST Senior Center is partnering with the New Ulm Public Library to bring you Movie Matinees. Held in the Meeting Room in the lower level of the New Ulm Public Library, we will present a different movie each Friday afternoon at 1pm. Our movies are free, and everyone is welcome to attend. No preregistration needed. Made possible by the Optimist Club of New Ulm. You’re welcome to bring your own refreshments. Free hearing devices compatible with the sound system are available to use. And you don’t have to be a “senior” to attend! See some old favorites and discover some new ones. Join us for a fun afternoon of classic cinema!
