The film follows Frank McCloud, a WWII Veteran who visits the Hotel Largo in Key Largo, Florida, to pay his respects to the family of a fallen comrade, George Temple. The hotel is managed by George’s widow, Nora, and her wheelchair-bound father-in-law, James. As Frank arrives, he discovers that the hotel is occupied by a group if gangsters led by the notorious mobster Johnny Rocco, who is hiding out there during an approaching hurricane. As the storm intensifies, tensions rise between the gangsters and the hotel staff. Frank, initially reluctant to act due to his disillusionment from the war, finds himself compelled to protect Nora and James from Rocco’s brutality. the film culminates in a dramatic confrontation as Frank decides to take a stand against the gangsters, leading to a successful climax at sea.
