“Frankenstein” (1931) Friday, October 10 at 1pm at the New Ulm Public Library/Downstairs Meeting Room The 1931 film "Frankenstein" follows Dr. Henry Frankenstein, a brilliant but tormented scientist who embarks on a bold experiment to create a man in his own likeness. He assembles a human body from various body parts, including those from freshly buried corpses and recently hanged criminals. The film's antagonist, the creature, is brought to life by a mysterious ray invented by Dr. Frankenstein. The creature's creation leads to a series of tragic events, including the death of Dr. Frankenstein's assistant Fritz and the accidental drowning of a young girl by the creature. The villagers, driven by fear and the creature's malevolent nature, seek to destroy the creature, leading to a climactic confrontation. The film's portrayal of the creature and Dr. Frankenstein's obsession with reanimation has left a lasting impact on horror cinema and popular culture.
