CAST/Library Movie Matinee: "After the Thin Man" (1936)
The second of the five “Thin Man” movies. Back in San Francisco after their holiday in New York, Nick and Nora find themselves trying to solve another mystery. It's New Year's Eve and they are summoned to dinner with Nora's elderly, very aristocratic family by Aunt Catherine. There they find that Cousin Selma's husband Robert has been missing for three days. She figures he married her for her money, and that he has other women and that is where he disappears to, yet she still loves him. Well, she's right, on both counts. Robert has taken up with a singer at a club, Polly Byrnes. It turns out that Robert has made a bunch of people mad at him besides his wife, so when he turns up a corpse with a bullet in him a short while into the film, this is no surprise. The question is of course "who did it?" About our Movie Matinees: The CAST Senior Center is partnering with the New Ulm Public Library to bring you Movie Matinees. Held in the Meeting Room in the lower level of the New Ulm Public Library, we will present a different movie each Friday afternoon at 1pm. Our movies are free, and everyone is welcome to attend. No preregistration needed. Made possible by the Optimist Club of New Ulm. You’re welcome to bring your own refreshments. Free hearing devices compatible with the sound system are available to use. And you don’t have to be a “senior” to attend! See some old favorites and discover some new ones. Join us for a fun afternoon of classic cinema!
