Event Description:
The third of ten courses in the 2021 Fall Term of CASTLE Lifelong Learning, a program of the CAST Senior Center. Traveling Brown County is a new, companion exhibit to Becoming Brown County: The Land and its People, on the first floor of the museum and describes the history of transportation and the various methods of travel used by the county’s residents. The exhibit includes artifacts and photographs of transportation that was powered by animal, water, steam, and gasoline; The 150 Years of the New Ulm Fire Department exhibit outlines the history of the New Ulm Fire Department from its origins and early equipment, such as the “Mankiller” hand pump and early buckets, to its present status as a provider of fire protection, prevention, and rescue services; The Art and Artists of Brown County: The Gag Family exhibit showcases works from artist and photographer Anton Gag and two of his daughters, internationally-renowned author and artist Wanda Gag, and artist and illustrator Flavia Gag. Enrollment in the CASTLE Lifelong Learning program is $100 for one year, which covers a minimum of 18 different courses over Fall, Winter and Spring Terms. Courses include art, entertainment, health/wellness, history, literature, local interests, music, science, and more. Attendance of all courses is not required.
