This WWII film follows Squadron Leader Roger Bartlett, known as “Big X,” who devises an ambitious plan to escape 250 men simultaneously from their Prison Camp. The prisoners work tirelessly to dig three tunnels, named “Tom,” Dick,” and “Harry,” while creating civilian clothes and forging documents to add their escape. As the escape plan unfolds, the film balances moments of humor with high-stakes adventure. Despite their meticulous planning, the escape doesn’t go as smoothly as planned when their tunnels are discovered. Only 76 prisoners manage o escape before the plan is thwarted. Tragically, many of the escapees are recaptured and 50 are executed by the Gestapo as a warning to others. Based on a true story.
