The Extraordinary History and Legacy of the White House Virtual Program
The White House, and the Oval Office in particular, offers the greatest home field advantage in the world. But the building is so much more than where the President of the United States works; it is a home, a giant garden, a restaurant, a fortress, and a museum. Join Dr. Lindsay Chervinsky to learn about the history of the White House, from the grand ideals that formed the nation’s capital city, to the Christmas traditions that continue to this day. Along the way, you’ll learn about the enslaved workers that constructed the building, the many renovations, the art, the famous visitors, the exotic residents, and the ongoing historic preservation and educational mission of the building. Welcome to CAST Virtual Programs! Provided by the CAST Senior Center, this programming was developed to reach a wide audience of senior citizens, providing an endless variety of interesting subjects via virtual programming. We provide learning opportunities in the arts, health and wellness, history, philosophy, science and much more, traveling virtually across the country, experiencing and learning about people, places and things which we’re unable to do in person. Scheduled every Tuesday afternoon, unless noted, at 1pm at the CAST Senior Center, our Virtual Programs are free and open to the public. There are no membership dues and everyone is welcome to attend. Programming is provided by AARP One Day University, Curiosity Stream, and other online providers. Check out our virtual program schedule every month and join us. We look forward to seeing you!
