"The Apartment” is a 1960 romantic-comedy-drama film directed by Billy Wilder. C.C. “Bud” Baxter is a mild-mannered insurance clerk working in a large firm. In an effort to climb the corporate ladder, he allows his superiors to use his apartment for their extramarital affairs. This arrangement, while initially beneficial to his career, complicates his personal life as he often finds himself locked out of his own home. The situation changes dramatically one evening when Baxter finds his crush, one of the company’s elevator girls, overdosed on pills in his apartment after his boss used it for a date.
