Siama & Dallas Congo Music
The New Ulm Public Library invites you to join us for a special musical treat. On Wednesday, December 27 at 1 p.m. in the library meeting room Siama and Dallas will perform for us. “Back in Africa, Siama Matuzungidi recorded hundreds of songs and toured the world with popular artists. Now based in Minneapolis, he's known for his intricate guitar, spirited singing, catchy songs and traditional African instruments like Balafon (marimba) and Mbira (thumb piano). His wife/musical partner Dallas Johnson encourages everyone to sing along to fun songs in Kikongo and Lingala and they tell stories that bring Siama's charming rural hometown to life. This uplifting program is especially for kids and families but it's really for everyone so don't miss it!” This free program is made possible by a grant provided by the Traverse des Sioux Library Cooperative and funded with money from Minnesota's Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.
