Seven Days in May is a 1964 American political thriller about a planned military coup against the U.S. President, starring Burt Lancaster, Kirk Douglas and Fredric March. The film centers on U.S. President Jordan Lyman, who signs a nuclear disarmament treaty with the Soviet Union, sparking outrage among military leaders who fear a Soviet sneak attack. General James Mattoon Scott, Chaiman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, secretly plans a coup to overthrow the president within seven days. Colonel Martin “Jiggs” Casey, Scott’s subordinate, discovers the plot and alerts President Lyman, setting off a tense race to prevent the takeover.
