One Room School House Program
The Brown County Historical Society is offering a living history camp for children that includes grades K – 5. Participants will experience all aspects of a school day in a one room school; much like children did during the 19th century. This is a one-day event held from 9:00 am – 1:30 pm on Tuesday June 11 or Thursday June 13 at the school house on the Brown County Fairgrounds. Students are encouraged to wear clothes of the 19th century. This could be long skirts, aprons, bonnets, bib overalls or knickers. Shirts & shoes are required. Each child should bring a cold lunch, possibly in a basket or pail. Suggestions for an authentic country school cold lunch include: peanut butter or jelly sandwiches, cold pancakes with sugar, fresh fruit, vegetables, donuts or cookies. Pre-registration is required. Registration forms must be filled out and returned along with the $15.00 fee to the BCHS Museum by Saturday, June 7, 2019. For more information, please call the BCHS Museum at 507-233-2620
