MLC Winter Play: The Importance of Being Earnest
Oscar Wilde’s classic comedic play is about two men, Jack and Algernon, who create fictitious personas in order to escape their mundane lives. Jack pretends to be Earnest in the city, while Algernon pretends to be Jack’s brother, Earnest, in the country. The two men find love with two women, Gwendolen and Cecily, as they juggle their double lives. However, when the truth comes out, their relationships are put to the test in a series of unexpected twists and turns. The Importance of Being Earnest explores themes of identity, love, and social norms—a satirical comedy you won’t want to miss!
