MLC Children's Theater - The BFG
It’s Sophie’s special day, but the birthday entertainer is sick, and Sophie and her friends must make their own fun. Thus begins David Wood’s—the UK’s National Children’s Dramatist—adaptation of Roald Dahl’s The BFG. Dahl is considered one of the most colorful and playful of children’s writers. His beloved story of Sophie and her unlikely friend has enthralled and entertained children for over forty years with its lighthearted humor, whimsical fantasy, and bone-chilling comedy.
On a mysterious night, Sophie is unexpectedly whisked away from her cozy bed by a towering giant. Her fears quickly disappear as she befriends this kind colossus who eats snozzcumbers and speaks in squiff-squiddles. Unfortunately, lurking in Giant Country are other, far more terrifying giants with a taste for human beans! It’s up to Sophie and her newfound friend, the BFG, to devise a daring plan to outsmart these dangerous beasts before it’s too late. David Wood’s masterful adaptation celebrates the beauty of imaginative play while encouraging children to bravely face their fears—even bone-crunching giants—with the aid of unexpected friends. We hope you come and join us for a glumptiously glummy good time!
