Minnesota 78rpm RECORDS played at the Hall of Fame
Today at the Minnesota Music Hall of Fame, we will be playing 78 RPM records through a battery-operated record player via Bluetooth into the overhead sound system. Mostly spinning Dutchman-style old-time music since it's Oktoberfest in New Ulm, but I did find this 78 by George Stoll, who was born in Minnesota. Georgie led a lot of orchestras during the heyday of film musicals in Hollywood, and worked a lot with Judy Garland, who coincidentally is an inductee here at the Hall of Fame. I found this record in Mankato over the past week- thought we'd give it a spin here today since he is a Minnesota native (like Judy). British vocalist Pat Kirkwood sounds a bit like Judy if you squint your ears a bit... This one isn't on discogs.
The Minnesota Music Hall of Fame is open today and tomorrow 10-2. Just 90 minutes from Uptown Minneapolis in beautiful New Ulm, Minnesota.
