Menagerie Returns to Perform Reunion Concert
On Saturday, May 4th, Director and Founder, Bob Wirtz, sons, Ted, and Jim and many more alumni will tell a story worth hearing, "An Evening With Menagerie.” We invite you to share one special concert night of new stories, familiar songs, and timeless fellowship with Bob and his kids at New Ulm's State Street Theater, 1 North State Street, New Ulm, MN. The concert will begin at 7 pm.
Menagerie was a youth folk group that was community based and led by Bob Wirtz from 1970-2000, growing from 7 to nearly 700 members throughout the 30 years. Students practiced Wednesday evenings at Flandrau Beach House and performed at church services and social function around MN. Often times Bob Wirtz would drive the students himself to locations in a bus.
The Menagerie spirit, enthusiasm, and good will were often recognized and presented opportunities to travel about the United States and overseas. Bob Wirtz and the Menagerie were inducted into the Minnesota Music Hall of Fame in 2004.
Tickets are $10 for ages 12 and up, $5 for ages 2-12, and free for those under the age of 2. They can be purchased at Bailey Creek Boutique, Hy-vee, New Ulm Chamber, or online at statestreetNEWULM.org. Tickets will also be available the evening of the concert at the door.
