CASTLE Event: Book Discussion "Confessions of a Recovering Engineer"
Facilitated by Dr. Ann Vogel, our CASTLE group will read and discuss “Confessions of a Recovering Engineer—Transportation for a Strong Town” The book’s author, Charles Marohn, Jr. has visited New Ulm twice in the past year, hosting a review of the town and ideas for improvement. Doc Ann will expound on Mr. Marohn’s comments and engage our group in a discussion about his book. In this book, Charles L. Marohn Jr. delivers an accessible and engaging exploration of America's transportation system, laying bare the reasons why it no longer works as it once did, and how to modernize transportation to better serve local communities. You'll discover real-world examples of poor design choices and how those choices have dramatic and tragic effects on the lives of the people who use them. Perfect for anyone interested in why transportation systems work - and fail to work - the way they do, Confessions of a Recovering Engineer is a fascinating insider's peek behind the scenes of America's transportation systems. Dr. Vogel has generously donated six copies of the book, which are available for pickup at the CAST office. It is Dr. Vogel’s wish that you read and then pass on the book to another interested reader. Event info: We will meet in Room 111A in the CAST Senior Center at 1:30pm. You must arrange your own transportation. For members, there is no charge for this event and for Pay-Per-Event there is a $10 event fee.
