CASTLE Bonus Program: Gateway Arch National Park
Join us for our CASTLE Bonus Program, a live virtual program provided by the Senior Learning Network. CASTLE Bonus Programs are provided the first four Tuesdays of every month and are included in your CASTLE Membership. The Gateway Arch reflects St. Louis, MO’s role in the Westward Expansion of the United States during the nineteenth century. The park is a memorial to Thomas Jefferson's role in opening the West, to the pioneers who helped shape its history, and to Dred Scott who sued for his freedom in the Old Courthouse. The process of creating the Gateway Arch took many years before its completion in 1965. In this virtual program, a National Park Ranger will share Eero Saarinen's story and take us back to the 1960s to learn about the process of conceiving, designing, and building the tallest national monument in the United States.
