Martin Luther College is the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS) College of Ministry. Owned and operated by WELS, we exist to train future pastors, teachers, and staff ministers for the public ministry.
Because of this purpose, our curriculum and our campus are distinctive. We are united by shared goals, a sense of community, and a vibrant campus culture: one based on the gospel of Jesus Christ and marked by spiritual growth, service to others, and mission-mindedness.
Our CURRICULUM is keyed to the needs of the church.
Because the gospel of Christ and the world?s need for that gospel are timeless, much of our curriculum has been constant since our beginnings in the mid-1800s. We stress study of the Bible in the original Hebrew and Greek, thorough reading of the Lutheran confessions, and a strong emphasis on the liberal arts, especially history, literature, and music.
Society itself changes constantly, however; therefore, we strive to stay on top of trends in technology and educational research, and we continue to meet the shifting needs of ever more diverse and global communities.
Our PROFESSORS have years of ministry experience to share.
80 faculty members are not only spiritually mature Christians and experts in their fields, they are also pastors and teachers who've had years of parish and school experience. This ''been there'' quality adds depth, realism, and practicality to their teaching.
