What you will be responsible for:

  

The Senior Buyer is responsible for executing the purchasing process to ensure quality materials, supplies and services are available for use when required. The role negotiates supplier terms, pricing, and delivery by utilizing tools that provide inventory demands, quality requirements and scheduling needs. The Senior Buyer role supports with a strategic approach to meet business objectives and customer quality and demand requirements, through development of our supplier base and ability to identify and reduce supply chain risks.

  • Responsible for satisfying procurement requirements associated with new customer parts and or projects, and development projects and parts, and Aerospace and Defense purchases which may include: Contract Review participation, supplier analysis, bill of material review, obtaining supplier quotations and prepare and maintain purchase orders from placement to reconciliation; ensuring quality and on time delivery are met
  • Work independently or in collaboration with Sourcing Specialist, providing a strategic approach to research and identify reliable sources for new materials, and products and processes.
  • Support supplier development and assist in identifying, communicating, and resolving supplier quality problems, and performance and possible improvements, which may require the following: Corrective action support, Non-conformance support, and Supplier visits
  • Support Sales with identifying possible buying strategies for components with long term potential.
  • Review and maintain supplier approval status and verification of certification and documentation to support AS9100 standard requirement.
  • Analyze material reports for production needs and maintain inventory levels
  • Identify and pursue opportunities to reduce costs of purchased components.
  • Process supplier non conformances and corrective action requests.
  • Process purchase orders for customer supplied materials as needed.
  • Collaborate with multiple departments across the entire organization, including, but limited to: Sales, Engineering, Quality, Operations, Facilities and Finance.

 

Requirements

 

  

What you need...

 

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a business or technical field and 3-4 years’ buying experience; or HS Diploma/GED and 8-10 year’s buying experience
  • APICS certification preferred

Experience: 

  • Two or more years or more of ERP work experience. 

Knowledge/Skills:

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office required. 
  • Strong communication (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skills (builds relationships) required.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Able to maintain effectiveness and efficiency in changing work responsibilities and fast paced environment.
  • Able to multi-task with high attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to effectively work with all levels in the organization.
  • Excellent organizational, decision making skills and the ability to be self-motivated are needed. 
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and prints is preferred.
