Job Description
Do you have a passion for working with elder adults, but still love being in a high energy environment?  Join our management team as our new Community Life Coordinator! 

The past year has been spent building a creative and active wellness and recreation program for our residents.  We are looking for someone who is able to grow our program even further.  Our Community Life Coordinator should be comfortable facilitating and planning a wide variety of activities and outings for our residents and their families.  From daily exercises and culinary club meetings to day trips and boating on Sleepy Eye Lake, our activity program is all inclusive and requires an individual who is able to supervise groups of 8-12 residents at a time. 

Other Responsibilities:
  • Create a monthly calendar of activities to keep our residents engaged and give them each the opportunity to learn new skills
  • Contact performers, vendors and other outside sources to coordinate their services
  • Plan and execute large scale parties and events
  • Collaborate with residents, family and care staff to create meaningful programming that develops or maintains residents’ intellectual, physical, vocational, emotional, social and spiritual well being
  • Serve as point of contact for community groups, faith organizations, student groups, volunteers, presenters, entertainers, etc. - Make arrangements for events; promotion, set up, transportation, tear-down, etc
  • Manage supply inventory, obtain resources and purchase needed supplies. Adhere to department budget, submit and track check requests, complete monthly expense reports
  • Carry out special projects as identified; participation in work committees, coordinate holiday decorations throughout building, maintain outdoor gardens, events and complete other tasks as assigned.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with residents and staff that encourages trust, cooperation, inspiration and goal achievement.
Job Requirements:
  • Requires strong organizational skills with ability to work independently and meet deadlines
  • Able to physically perform the duties required by the position
  • Requires ability to think critically and react quickly and calmly to diverse situations.
  • Strong computer skills are required, proficient in Microsoft and comfortable working with new technology
  • Exceptional telephone and communication skills
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to complete and pass a criminal background study
  • Experience with event planning/organizing or teaching helpful
