Feb 11 'Dear World' production by Ten Thousand Things Theater Company at Community Center

On February 11, at 2:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. , we will host a production of Dear World ' by Ten Thousand Things, a professional Minneapolis based theater Company devoted to bringing lively, professional theater to people who, in turn, help them re-imagine theater. They perform in community and adult education centers, correctional facilities, homeless shelters and more. They use the finest actors and a bare bones set, to produce high quality theater that invigorates ancient tales, classic stories and contemporary plays through our search for raw, open interactions between actors and audiences. They preform for FREE.

This latest production, the musical Dear World by Jerome Lawrence and Robert Lee,with music by Jerry Herman. It will be directed by Sarah Rasmussen, the new Artistic Director of the Jungle Theater in Minneapolis and music direction by Peter Vitale. Set in Paris, the story center's around a group of eccentrics and outcasts who band together to thwart the plans of evil businessmen who are plotting to extract oil from the land under the city's streets and cafés. The play celebrates the power of unconventional outlooks that are unburdened by wealth or greed. They have assembled an exceptional and diverse cast featuring Christina Baldwin, Sheena Jansen, JuCoby Johnson, Janet Paone, Thomasina Petrus, Kris Nelson, Shawn Vriezen and Fred Wagner. This is made possible by a grant from the Minnesota Legacy Funds/Minnesota State Art Board, Arts Tour program.

No registration is required and this event is free and open to the public. Call Community And Seniors Together with any questions at 507-354-3212 or at newulmseniors.org .

Feb 12 Live at The Grand: The Roe Family Singers!
The Roe Family Singers are a Good-Time, Old-Time Hillbilly band from the tiny community of Kirkwood Hollow, MN. Led by wife & husband Kim Roe (Best Female Vocalist, City Pages/Village Voice) and Quillan Roe (Accident Clearinghouse), the band marries old-time sounds from barn-dances, fiddle pulls, and county fairs with the rock & roll passion of youth. They mix original music and contemporary takes on old-time, traditional, and gospel tunes into one roiling & rollicking river of fresh yet familiar American music. Every performance raises a ruckus.
