So, let’s make a deal: we tell you about dinner, and you promise not to lick your phone screen.

Every Tuesday from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, the New Ulm American Legion is turning off the "what's for dinner?" panic and turning on the grills.

The "I Deserve This" Lineup

All baskets come with your choice of French Fries, Tater Tots, Sweet Potato Fries, or Onion Rings (+$2 for the rings, because good things cost a little extra).

• The Classic Hamburger – $8.50 (Simple. Reliable. A crowd-pleaser.)

• Cheeseburger – $9.00 (Because melted cheese fixes everything.)

• CaliBurger – $9.50 (For when you want to feel fancy.)

• Bacon Cheeseburger – $10.00 (Bacon makes it a personality trait.)

• Mushroom Swiss Burger – $10.00 (Umami goodness in every bite.)

• Patty Melt – $10.00 (Rye bread + grilled onions = pure joy.)

Taught by Bridget Gusso, these after school art classes are a space for middle school students to be creative outside of school. Classes happen weekly on Wednesdays. Bridget is a licensed art teacher who currently teaches at New Ulm Middle School. During these sessions, students will create projects led by Gusso with the option to work independently. Supplies are provided. All sessions are free to attend!

Canticum Novum is extending its 20th-anniversary celebration with a special weekend of music and ministry in New Ulm, Minnesota, and you are invited to join us! After celebrating its 20th season with performances throughout southeastern Wisconsin in June, the choir will continue its anniversary celebration with a special concert at Martin Luther College’s Chapel of the Christ. The concert will take place Saturday, September 12, at 6:30 PM at the Chapel of the Christ on the campus of Martin Luther College. We are also excited to welcome members of the Martin Luther College Choir and the Minnesota Valley Lutheran High School Chargaliers for special musical selections during the concert. The BriTins: A Tribute to The Beatles

On February 9, 1964, America would be introduced to a phenomenon that would ultimately change rock and roll forever.

That group was called The Beatles. Milwaukee’s very own BriTins recreate the era that influenced so many top groups and artists today.

Join The BriTins as they play hits from the Fab Four, from “Love Me Do” to “Let It Be”.
Follow along on a Magical Mystery Tour of sights and sounds through that remarkable era of the 1960’s, recreated on authentic Beatles gear.

In this letterpress printing workshop, each participant will set their own wood type poster designs to be printed in (at least) 2 colors. The focus will be to introduce and experiment with alternative inking techniques, printing in multiple passes, and using type as texture.

Historic Downtown New Ulm comes alive for two days of Oktoberfest fun, with live music, German food and drink, family activities, contests, shopping, and plenty of Gemütlichkeit. From polka and steinholding to the Germanic-American Day Parade, Downtown Oktoberfest brings German tradition and community celebration together in the heart of New Ulm.

The celebration takes place along Minnesota Street in the heart of Downtown New Ulm, where visitors can grab a drink in the biergarten, catch live entertainment, explore local shops and restaurants, cheer on steinholding competitors, and enjoy Oktoberfest festivities throughout the day.

New in 2026: Minnesota State Steinholding Championship

Downtown Oktoberfest is proud to host the U.S. Steinholding Association Minnesota State Championship for the first time in 2026.

Competitors from across Minnesota will test their strength and endurance for the state title and the opportunity to advance to the U.S. Steinholding Association National Championship.

A qualifying competition will take place Friday evening, followed by the Minnesota State Finals on Saturday afternoon.

Create your own bookmarks in this beginner-friendly printmaking class! Participants will print multiples of a 2” × 6” design, using either their own ideas or inspiration provided by the instructor. Explore the past at the Historic Kiesling House, constructed in 1861; it survived the U.S.–Dakota War of 1862, tornados, blackbirds, grasshoppers, and city development. Learn about area history, the Kiesling family & the house itself.

Adam Dauer will be demonstrating Blacksmithing at the front of the house. Dauer has been a blacksmith for 5 years and feels blacksmithing is a lost trade. He is a New Ulm native and graduated from the New Ulm High School in 2010.

Saturday, October 10 // Drop in event: 4 PM-6 PM (plan for 30 minutes of printing time!)

In this drop-in event, participants will design their own trick-or-treat bag by choosing from pre-made, hand-carved linoleum blocks created by artist Braeden Baston. Participants will have the opportunity choose and print various colors and different blocks with the assistance of the instructor and Grand staff. Everyone will leave with a custom Halloween-themed tote bag! No experience required.

The Fatheads (Ron Arsenault, Tim Waters, Dave Pengra, and Mike Pengra) cover a wide variety music genres including: Bluegrass / Newgrass, Country /Blues, Classic Country, Americana, Folk, Rock and Roll, and some 4 part A Cappella vocal selections to name a few. In other words, di?cult to label. Infectious fun seeking ensues contagiously when they perform.

All members of The Fatheads have been inducted into The Midwest Rock and Country Hall of Fame (with City Mouse) and nominated for various Minnesota Music Awards.

In the past year they have opened for Trampled By Turtles, Martin Zellar and The Hardaways, Mary Jane Alm, and Erik Koskinen with City Mouse. They frequently play at major midwest music festivals including: The Rock Bend Folk Festival, Blues On Belgrade, The Rhythm Of The River, Mississippi Music at the Bemidji Waterfront, and many others.

The Matting & Framing Studio at The Grand Center for Arts & Culture combines state of the art computerized mat cutting equipment with antique framing equipment. The class will show students how to safely use equipment to cut mats, cut glass, make frames and assemble into a professional quality framed piece of artwork. Please bring an artwork or photograph that you would like to frame that is no larger than 8×10. Additional cost for extra materials used.

Day 1: Instructor will give detailed demonstration of matting and framing process and produce a sample framed piece of artwork. Then students will be guided through process of selecting materials to mat and frame their own artwork and the proper use of equipment and tools.

Day 2: Students will continue to work on their projects with assistance from the instructor. Goal is to have one fully matted and framed piece of artwork by the end of class and to learn how to safely operate all equipment.

BURGER TUESDAY: A Survival Guide

Taught by Bridget Gusso, these after school art classes are a space for middle school students to be creative outside of school. Classes happen weekly on Wednesdays. Bridget is a licensed art teacher who currently teaches at New Ulm Middle School. During these sessions, students will create projects led by Gusso with the option to work independently. Supplies are provided. All sessions are free to attend!

Students meet in our second floor arts education space, enter through the front door.
