The Brown County Historical Society (BCHS) is spearheading a number of events to commemorate the 152nd anniversary of the U.S.-Dakota War the week of August 18. Luxury van tours of the historic Milford and Leavenworth Rescue areas in rural Brown County will be narrated by local historians. Tours will depart from the BCHS. Reservations are required; call 507-233-2620 for tickets. Thursday, August 21, 10 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Tour begins with Dakota War exhibit on the third floor of the BCHS Museum. Van departs at 11 a.m. for extended tour in Milford, Sigel, and Stark townships. Lunch is provided at Carl's Corner in Essig. Cost: $40.
