Those of you with good memories may remember Tom Lieberman as the tallest member of the seminal vocal jazz trio Rio Nido... Those of you who are fans of A Prairie Home Companion may remember him as a guitarist, singer, & the voice of El Muchacho Allegre (Happy Boy) Ajua-brand Hot Sauce... Those of you who have (or are) children, may have heard his original songs being sung on Sesame Street.... And, those of you who enjoy movies may have heard Tom's original songs on the soundtrack to the breakout independent film, Sweet Land. In recent years, Tom has returned to the performance stage as a solo and collaborative musical artist, and the creator of Ukulele Alley, starring everyone’s favorite talking ukulele, Luke the Uke. His 2013 recording of original songs, Common Denominator, has received enthusiastic reviews from listeners, press and broadcasters worldwide, with the The Minneapolis StarTribune placing it on their list of the year’s Top 10 recordings, and reviewers describing it as, “gentle, romantic, playful & infectious…” and “…bluesy, simmering, profoundly philosophical…” Tom will be bringing his trio (Bill Grenke on upright and Bruce Wintervold on drums & vibraphone) to the Grand Kabaret for an evening of originals, chestnuts and roots, served right.
