The Bluem Family of Brown County: a Painful Story of the U.S.-Dakota War
On Wednesday, August 19 at 6 p.m. at New Ulm Public Library, independent historian Gary Wiltscheck will present "The Bluem Family of Brown County: a Painful Story of the U.S.-Dakota War," a program based on his new book about the Bluem family, who lived in the Iberia area. Six members of the family were killed during the Dakota War; only young John survived. This program, part of the 153rd commemoration of the U.S.-Dakota War, is co-sponsored by the Brown County Historical Society. It is free and open to the public; seating is first come, first served. It is made possible by a grant provided by the Traverse des Sioux Library Cooperative and was funded in part with money from Minnesota's Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.
