Oktoberfest Express Shuttle runs from New Ulm Best Western Plus / Green Mill to the winery Festival Entrance from 11:00 am - 3:00 pm.
THE SCHEDULE - Saturday, October 6 - Grounds open at 11:00 am; Three Competitive Stomps are scheduled for 1:00, 2:00 & 3:00; Performance Art throughout the afternoon; a Taste of New Ulm all day- offering a unique variety of artisan produced food & local libation.
THE STOMPERS - You Can be a Stomper! The main event for the first weekend of New Ulm’s Oktoberfest is Morgan Creek Vineyards’ 19th Annual Great Grape Stomp on the winery festival grounds nine miles east of New Ulm 15 miles west of Mankato off of scenic HWY 68 along the Southern Minnesota River Valley.
Official Stomps are scheduled for 1:00 | 2:00 | 3:00 and advanced registration is required. (Walk-ins may be lucky to find a slot occasionally - but, plan to call us (507) 947.3547 ahead of the event to reserve your group vat - 3 to 5 stompers per vat - 10 vats compete, at each heat, for a total of 50 stompers per heat. The team producing the largest volume of juice stomped from the fresh grapes will receive a free case of wine ($200.00 value). Each member of the Best Stomper “Concept and Costume” group wins a bottle of our seasonal featured dessert ice wine. (Black Ice or Sweet E) Costumes are not required!- but sure make stomping a lot more fun!
THE PERFORMANCE ART - Featuring this season our Bavarian guest musicians Oachkazlschwoarf; our funambulists of hospitality - the Minnesota Traditional Morris Dancers of the Minnesota Renaissance Festival; a new addition to the dance line-up, the Satori Violet Belly Dancers of Mankato; and the infamous Narren of New Ulm - the Black Forest Masked Visitors - all will perform on the winery grounds from 12:00 - 3:00. Special performance to close out the day is the music of The Lost Walleye Orchestra on tap from 3:00 - 5:00.

FIRE PIT PORK: Our new Grape Stomp event provided by New Ulm’s Chef Lacey Lueth of Lola’s American Bistro! Lacey takes a turn at our one-of-a kind Imu Pit Oven at the Foot of the Vineyard. The “Lynch Pit”, designed by Executive Chef Paul Lynch, is in his words - is “the Cadillac of pit oven cooking!” Chef Lynch designed the pit, with the help of Morgan Creek’s Adam Marti, with the purpose of creating a showcase of open fire wood cooking, for which Lynch is nationally renown. Come experience it for yourself!
