Name: St. Patrick's Day Parade
Date: March 17, 2014
Time: 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM
Event Description:
New Ulm Gets Its Green On

The smell of corned beef and soda bread is in the air and that can only mean one thing. It’s time to gear up for New Ulm’s Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade. The parade will take place on Monday, March 17, 2014 and will step off at 5 pm. This is the 49th year of the parade, making it the longest consecutive Irish parade event in the state.

As tradition mandates, the parade route will begin at 3rd South and Minnesota Streets and proceed the wrong way up Minnesota to its conclusion at the Glockenspiel. The parade will be immediately followed by the Gathering of the Clans Banquet at Don’s Pub (known the rest of the year as the Kaiserhoff Restaurant) with entertainment by New Ulm’s Good Will Ambassadors, the O’Concord Singers, performing traditional Irish tunes.

This year, the St. Patrick’s Day Parade Chieftans have bestowed the honor of Grand Marshal on Mayor Bob Beussman and crowned Cheryl Beussman as the Irish Eyes Smiling Queen.

If you have a group interested in being a part of this great St. Patrick’s Day tradition or for additional information, please visit our website www.newulmblarney.com or contact the parade chieftans at nublarney@gmail.com.

The event was first organized by three local Irish attorneys Bill O’Connor, Tom Donnelly and Terry Dempsey with the goal to foster the understanding of Irish culture and celebrate it’s heritage and family values thereby contributing to the good and welfare of the residents in the city of New Ulm and the surrounding area.

A grateful thanks to A to Zinnia Floral and Gifts and to the Gislason Law Firm for their contributions to this event. This activity is funded, in part, by the Prairie Lakes Regional Arts Council with an appropriation from the Minnesota State Legislature with money from the State’s general fund.
