Needlework at the Kiesling House
The Norwegian art of hardanger needlework will be demonstrated by Dinah Skalicky of St. Peter, MN. She will display examples of hardanger and will include some of her grandmother’s crochet work. She learned to do hardanger in the early 80's. Children will have the opportunity to do a basic stitch. This presentation complements the regular programming which includes a guided tour, a video presentation and exhibits. Explore the past at The Historic Kiesling House, constructed in 1861, and learn about the Kiesling family that built the house. The family and their house survived the US-Dakota War of 1862. The house is the only wood-framed house from that era remaining in Brown County.
