Mystery Author Allen Eskens
Mankato mystery author Allen Eskens will present his debut novel Thursday, October 23 at 6 p.m. at New Ulm Public Library. "The Life We Bury:" tells the story of Joe Talbert, a junior at the University of Minnesota who receives a class assignment to write a biography of someone who has lived an interesting life. At a nursing home he meets Carl Iverson, a man dying of cancer who has been medically paroled after spending 30 years in prison for the murder of a 14-year-old girl. Carl agrees to tell Joe his story, and Joe sets out to unravel the tapestry of the 30-year-old murder. Eskens, a criminal defense attorney, has received a number of accolades for the book, including an Amazon best mystery of October pick, a starred review in Publishers Weekly, and an Editor's Fall Pick from Library Journal. The program, which is free and open to the public, will include a presentation, Q&A session, and book signing. Books will be available for purchase.
