Local historian, author, and costumed historical interpreter Bryce Stenzel will present “The History of Decoration Day” at the Minnesota Valley Civil War Round Table on Tuesday, March 20 at 6:30 p.m. at the library. “Decoration Day” began when freed slaves memorialized Union dead by placing flowers on their graves. This grassroots effort evolved and culminated in the creation of “Decoration Day,” which later became Memorial Day. The Minnesota Valley Civil War Round Table series is presented the third Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at New Ulm Public Library and is free and open to the public. Please call 507-359-8334 for more information.
