Katie Gropper Walking Tour of Downtown New Ulm
Brown County Historical Society, Sleepy Eye Area Historical Society and New Ulm Public Library are sponsoring a number of events to commemorate the 156th anniversary of the U.S.-Dakota War the week of August 22-26. On Saturday, August 25 at 10:30 a.m., Brown County Historical Society volunteers will lead a free walking tour of downtown New Ulm sites related to Katie Gropper, a local girl who experienced the U.S.-Dakota War of 1862. Tour goers should meet outside the Brown County Historical Society on the corner of Broadway and Center Street. Free children's crafts will follow the tour at the Brown County Historical Society.
