The Brown County Historical Society will hold a History Day Camp Tuesday, July 9, and Thursday, July 11, from 9:00am to 1:30pm. At the camp, held at the Brown County Museum Annex in New Ulm, participants will experience life of a child living in the mid to late 1800’s. Attend the History Day Camp and learn about the chore of making butter; washing clothes the way pioneers did; playing pioneer games; making vintage crafts and learning about the importance of the buffalo to Native Americans. Experience what it was like to live in the past and dress up like a pioneer or a fur trader. Participants will explore history, create crafts and enjoy games and activities. They will take an excursion to the Kiesling House where they will do chores, then go on to German Park to play vintage games and eat lunch and then return to the museum annex for crafts and other activities. (The excursion depends upon the weather. Alternative activities will be planned.) It is optional to dress in costume! Pre-registration is required – the fee of $17.50. Children must have completed K through 5th grades to participate in the one-day program.
