HEIRLOOM GARDENING
Gardens were very important things that were put on prairie farms in the 1870's.
The Harkin Store will have heirloom seeds and information about gardening, the
program is from 1 to 4 pm on Sunday, May 15th. The program admission is
included with admission to the store. Joyce Halverson, New Ulm area Master
Gardener, will be available for questions and answers.
The Harkin Store was a place to get your seeds for your garden. The store has 40%
original merchandise on the shelves that visitors can see and also learn about the
Alexander Harkin General Store and the riverboat town of West Newton.
The gift shop is open the same hours as the store. It will be stocked with lots of books,
toys, hand crafted and unique items also 10 cent candy.
The store is located nine miles northwest of New Ulm on Nicollet County Road 21, or
the bottom road, or nine miles east of Fort Ridgely. For more information and scheduling
