CAST Movie Matinee: "Killers of the Flower Moon"
The story takes place in the 1920s around the Osage Indian tribe living in Oklahoma. Native Americans are being killed one by one after the tribe becomes rich by discovering oil. The Osage massacre attracts the attention of the FBI, which begins an investigation. Killers of the Flower Moon is a 2023 American epic Western crime drama film co-produced and directed by Martin Scorsese, who co-wrote the screenplay with Eric Roth. It is based on the 2017 book of the same name by David Grann. Set in 1920s Oklahoma, it focuses on a series of murders of Osage members and relations in the Osage Nation after oil was discovered on tribal land. The tribal members had retained mineral rights on their reservation, but a corrupt local political boss sought to steal the wealth. The CAST Senior Center is partnering with the New Ulm Public Library to bring you Movie Matinees for Seniors. Held in the Meeting Room in the lower level of the New Ulm Public Library, we will present a different movie each Friday afternoon at 1pm. These movies are free, and everyone is welcome to attend. No preregistration needed. Made possible by the Optimist Club of New Ulm. For 2024, our monthly movie theme is “Through the Decades”. We will be showing movies from the Top 100 Movies list of their decade, beginning with the 1930s in March and ending with the 2020s in December. See some old favorites and maybe discover some new ones. Join us for a fun afternoon of classic cinema!
