Join Carver Creek Bluegrass for an afternoon of music. The group is a family band of five siblings from Carver, Minnesota. They play bluegrass, old-time, gospel and Irish folk music on the banjo, guitar, bass, fiddle and some unusual pieces, like the bodhran (an Irish frame drum) and the musical saw.
Come out and learn about this original 1870's general store! Merchandise that visitors will look at is 40% original. The Harkin Store is located in the once thriving riverboat town of West Newton on the Minnesota River, nine miles northwest of New Ulm on Nicollet County Road 21, or the bottom road, or nine miles east of Fort Ridgely.
The admission to the program is included with the admission to the store. The gift shop is filled to the brim with new books, toys, unique items and many hand crafted items, also 10 cent candy. The store is open in May on Saturdays and Sundays with programs on Sundays from 1 to 4 pm.
Through out the season the store will have many programs of various kinds on Sundays from 1 to 4 pm.
